Everybody needs a Man Friday!

I read this quote recently:

"Only Robinson Crusoe had everything done by Friday."

How true!  It's been a busy week but I've actually been able to stay on top of the bookkeeping and almost all the laundry is done.  This morning I woke to discover our heat wave has broken and it's only 80 degrees.  I'm actually going to miss the lovely, lovely heat, but I do think I might be able to get a little bit more accomplished today now that it is cooler.

If you're visiting from Friday Follow 40 and Over, welcome to my blog.  This week I'd like to offer you a nice cold glass of sun tea.

It's been so hot this week, I've been staying refreshed by making batch after batch of sun tea.  This is a glass of Earl Grey with lots of lime and a hint of sugar.  But my favourite so far is a batch I made of Pomegranate Green Tea with lemon slices.  Very, very flavourful!

I've also been spending a LOT of time right here:

It's been a perfect week of swimming pool weather with temps in the high 90's and a humidex that has put it way over the top into the 100's.  We could not believe it yesterday when we saw that even the swimming pool temperature had risen to over 90!

But today is a rainy day, and as I said the temperature has cooled off ... perfect day for a visit with some friends, so thanks for stopping by!

Here's one last shot of last night's sunset, the gathering clouds were a good indication that rain was on its way.

  1. we're hot too in the UK and as I type this all the info is coming on the TV on 'how to keep cool in London' and we are being told to keep an eye on the elderly and children...

so a cold cup of anything is welcome :)

  2. I've never heard of Pomegranite Green Tea. Green tea, yes. And I've had various mixed juices with Pomegranite in it, I do believe. Is that an herbal tea you bought off the shelf or did you whip it up yourself? I never know with you. You are wicked clever.

  9. I'm glad to hear that things cooled down for you on that side of the lake. :-) We had a nice rainy day yesterday. It cooled things down a bit around here as well. Yay!

Mmmm... sun tea. Good stuff! I drank entirely too much of it yesterday and ended up not going to sleep until after 1am, which is VERY unusual for me. lol I forgot, though, that I have some Raspberry tea bags in there... Might have to use them for my next batch of sun tea. Thanks for the reminder! ;-)

Have a wonderful weekend, my friend!

  10. Thank you for stopping by and leaving your thoughts on my blog title. I am happy to add your name to the giveaway drawing.

I have pretty much decided to stay with Fill My Cup with Beauty. The word "beauty" was/is essential for me in my blog, as that is what I'm all about at this point in my life. But I was struggling to figure out how I wanted to use the word. My husband has suggested that I keep it as it is, since teacups AND beauty are big things in my life. And most blog readers feel the same way as hubby.

Anyhow, I must tell you...when we lived in another state and had a pool, I ALWAYS liked the pool water to be in the mid 90's!!! Not much below body temperature. It was still cooler than the outdoors.

As one who doesn't tolerate cold AT ALL, the water was refreshing to me at about 94 degrees!! Kind of nutty, huh?

The ice tea looks so refreshing. Earl Grey is my favorite tea!!

    Have a lovely day,
    Patti

  11. Hi Ro!

Where are you located in Southern Ontario?
I love your home from what i can see by your photo. It's beautiful! A real Southern Ontario home. I keep telling everyone out here that the homes in Ontario are so much better ( i think i'm annoying everyone) and beautiful.

    Stay cool in your pool!
